Scholarships for Polytechnic Students in Himachal Pradesh (2026-27)

B. Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme (SC/ST/OBC)

This is the most popular scholarship scheme for students belonging to reserved categories ( SC/ST/OBC )
  • Eligibility:  Students whose family income is below a certain threshold per annum (generally ₹2.5 lakh for SC/ST and ₹1.5 lakh for OBC ).
  • Benefits: Full or partial tuition fee reimbursement and maintenance allowance for poor students.

C. Dr. Ambedkar Post-Matric Scholarship for EBC Students

This is a scholarship scheme specifically for students belonging to the Economically Backward Classes (EBC) of the general category.
  • Eligibility:  To be eligible, an EBC family must have an annual income of less than ₹1 lakh. If this figure is higher, they will not be eligible.

Students of Polytechnic Institutes of Himachal Pradesh can avail the benefits of these schemes through the National Scholarship Portal ( NSP ) to avail the scholarships given by the Central Government.

A. Pragati Scholarship Scheme (for girls)

Pragati Scholarship Scheme (for girls) is a special initiative by AICTE to promote technical education among girl students.
  • Benefits: Students get the benefits of ₹50,000 per year for each year of study.
  • Eligibility:   Maximum two girl children per family are eligible for this scheme.

B. Saksham Scholarship Scheme

This is a scheme specially designed for disabled students. Students who are pursuing a technical diploma can avail the benefits of this scheme.
  • Benefits: Benefits up to ₹50,000 per year, including tuition and other expenses.

3. Merit-cum-Means Scholarship

Government polytechnic institutions in many areas, such as Hamirpur and  Sundernagar, have special funds to financially support students with good grades but low family incomes. These funds are often provided after the first semester results are declared. 

How to apply for the scholarship?

The application process for most scholarships in 2026 is done online. Follow these steps:

  2. Register on NSP:  For central schemes, you can register by visiting the National Scholarship Portal.
