B. Saksham Scholarship Scheme

Overview of HP Polytechnic Admission 2026

HP Polytechnic Admission Process. Technical education in Himachal Pradesh is managed by the Himachal Pradesh Technical Education Board (HPTSB), Dharamshala. Admission to various diploma courses in government as well as private polytechnic institutes is conducted through the Polytechnic Admission Test (PAT). 

Tentative dates of the event (2026) 

The official notification may be released in March 2026. 

  • Online applications will start from last week of March 2026.
  • Last Date to Apply: 1st week of May 2026
  • Himachal Pradesh PAT 2026 Exam Date: May 17, 2026 (Sunday)
  • The result will be announced in June 2026.
  • Counselling Process June – July 2026

eligibility criteria

Before applying for HP PAT 2026, make sure that you meet the following eligibility criteria:

Eligibility:  You must have passed 10th grade (high school) from a recognized board (HPBOSE, CBSE, ICSE, etc.).
Minimum Marks:  At least 35% marks in aggregate in your qualifying examination.
Subjects: You must have studied Mathematics, Science, and English in the 10th board examination.
Residence: To avail the benefits of government seats, candidates must be residents of Himachal Pradesh, i.e., a true Himachali.

How to Apply Online for HP PAT 2026

The application process is completely online and can be done through the official portal of HPTSB:

First, visit the official website: hptechboard.com .
Pre-registration: Click on the “Pre-registration Portal 2026-27” link. Then 
fill in the details: Enter personal details, educational qualifications, and contact information. 
Upload documents as applicable: Upload a scanned passport-sized photograph and signature (as per the specified size). Then 
pay the fee: General category candidates will have to pay approximately ₹650, while SC/ST/OBC candidates will have to pay only ₹400 . Finally,  print the confirmation. 

HP PAT 2026 Exam Pattern

Mode: The HP PAt exam will be conducted in offline mode (OMR sheet-based).
Duration: 3 hours.
Total Questions:  There will be a total of 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English.
Marking: 4 marks for each correct answer. ( Note: Check the latest notification for any updates regarding negative marking.)
